1. Seasonal predictability and natural variability
of monsoon climates
This session will cover the seasonal predictability and natural variability
of monsoon climates on all time-scales from intra-seasonal to inter-decadal.
In addition, the session will cover the interaction between different
time and space scales. Issues that the session will address include:
- Skill of GCMs in
simulating monsoon variability and the problems associated with model
systematic errorUse of advanced statistical techniques in characterising
monsoon variability and assessing model skill
- Assessment of the
seasonal predictability of monsoons using both statistical analysis
of observational data and ensembles of model integrations
- Origins of monsoon
predictability particularly, the role of regional SST anomalies
