    Finished Projects

PROMISE (EU funded)

(PRredictability and variability Of Monsoons, and the agricultural and hydrological Impact S of climate chang E)

The importance of developing links with the users of seasonal forecasts has provided a new direction for the group. The University of Reading Endowment Trust Fund has supported a 3-year fellowship to develop a seasonal crop prediction system which brings together the expertise in tropical meteorology and agriculture within the university. In addition, the new EU funded Framework 5 project entitled `Predictability and variability of monsoons, and the agricultural and hydrological impacts of climate change (PROMISE)' links with the impacts communities in crop modeling and water resources. PROMISE has a budget of 1.6M Euros and commenced in the spring of 2000.

SHIVA (EU funded)

(Studies of the Hydrology, Influence and Variability of the A sian Summer Monsoon.)
